Nafpaktos, a beautiful little town with medieval atmosphere

Nafpaktos is a beautiful coastal town in the West side of Greece. Its main characteristics that make visitors to come back again and again are the small port, the Venetian castle and its medieval style Old town.

The charming port, part of the town’s fortifications, was surrounded by towers and walls most of which have been preserved. It is one of the most popular places to relax, have a coffee or meal with fantastic views. In summertime you will see a lot of yachts in the small bay giving it a more cosmopolitan touch.

The Venetian castle is definitely worth a visit. If you decide to walk up the hill follow the narrow paths of the town. The hill is fairly steep. If you do not prefer to walk you can hire a taxi. Once you arrive at the top you will get sublime views of Corinth’s Gulf and the modern bridge of Rion – Antirion. Admission is free.

The traditional architecture, beauty and colours of Xanthi’ s Old Town

The Old Town of Xanthi, is one of the best preserved traditional architecture in Greece. It is an old traditional village hidden in the modern city of Xanthi and it was built in 1829 after a catastrophic earthquake that took place in the area. Traditional and glorious houses stand on each side of its narrow lanes. The power of its colors, aromas and architecture virtually travel you back in time.

  Once you start strolling on the alleys you will be astonished by the perfectly crafted buildings and the paved streets. You will get the feeling that you walk in endlessly beautiful labyrinth.

Fidakia, a car-free traditional village with exceptional views

Covered in snow, this is an ideal winter resort with loads of guest houses and hotels to chose from. The best thing about this village is that use of cars is not allowed. So leave your car and start walking on the alleys, the square and admire the beautifully decorated courtyards. You will also find traditional cafes, tavernas with delicious homemade food and shops that sell local  meat products such as sausages and prosciutto.

Dimitsana, a "work of art" mountainous village

Dimitsana is a stone-built village on the slopes of Mainalon mountain at an altitude of 1.000m. The first thing a visitor will notice is the outstanding traditional architecture of the buildings.
