Agia Triada, a little village in Evrytania

Agia Triada is a traditional village in Evrytania, a regional unit in Central Greece. Its visitors are impressed by its architecture, the beautifully built stone houses and the cobbled stoned alleys. This little village is set on the hill of a mountain in a dense forest of chestnut and fir trees. If you visit in wintertime you will be lucky to see the entire area covered in snow.

  There are four churches near the village of great significance, that are worth visiting. The church of Agia Triada, the stone built church of Prophet Elias, the church of Saint Velissarios and the church of Saint John.

The village is just 14km from the nearest ski resort and 31km from Karpenissi, Evritania’s capital town. Traditional guest houses and hotels are available, especially for those who prefer being away of more touristic Karpenissi. Local food is delicious and you can choose from a variety of meats, pies and fish.

The National Marine Park of Alonissos, Europe’s largest protected marine area

The National Marine Park of Alonissos is located in Central Eastern Greece in the north part of the Sporades islands. It is Greece’s first park of its kind and currently it is the largest sea area that is protected in Europe. The park’s area of more than 2,000 sq. km, includes the island of Alonissos,  6 smaller islands and 22 islets. The marine park is accessible with various organised boat trips that depart from Alonissos port.   The marine park is under very strict rules of protection, with limited human interference, thus making it a natural and healthy home for many threatened species of sea life, such as the Monk seals. In specific areas you can swim, snorkel and dive.

Elatia forest, Greece’s natural monument

With over 1.700 different plants, 38 pieces of mammals and 100 species of birds, Elatia forest near Drama city, is the largest forest complex in Greece. It  is also known as Karadere. The green and dense tall trees landscape reminds the visitor forests that are usually seen in Northern Europe.

Fidakia, a car-free traditional village with exceptional views

Covered in snow, this is an ideal winter resort with loads of guest houses and hotels to chose from. The best thing about this village is that use of cars is not allowed. So leave your car and start walking on the alleys, the square and admire the beautifully decorated courtyards. You will also find traditional cafes, tavernas with delicious homemade food and shops that sell local  meat products such as sausages and prosciutto.
