Elafonissi beach, a piece of heaven beach in Crete

As you approach the Elafonissi beach, you will be very lucky to admire one of the most extraordinary views in Greece. White and pink stretches of sand, that perfectly match the tropical emerald waters of the southwest Cretan coast, compose a spectacular landscape. Once you arrive closer, you get the feeling that small lagoons are separated by strips of sand.

There is also a lagoon with warm waters, shallow, and lots of sea life, ideal for kids and snorkeling fans. One can also walk to the small uninhabited island. The area is protected and is the home of many rare plants and animal species.

Tip: You better not visit this place when its windy (you will be disappointed) or in August season when it gets crowded. Prefer going early in the morning to secure a better spot. Read more...

Aspros Potamos is an old abandoned settlement in south east Crete. The houses, made of local natural stone and red soil, have been renovated and restored into guest houses with respect to the nature, without losing their traditional architecture. Each house is above one another and the roof of the lower one is used as the balcony of the upper one.

For those who want internet connection, the library of the complex offers free Wi-Fi to its guests. The electricity used in these areas is generated by a photo-voltaic system.
