A tasteful combination of Raki (traditional spirit of Crete) and local produced honey, Rakomelo is the ideal alcohol drink to have if you spend time in Greece during the cold winter months. Spiced up with cloves and cinnamon is even better. Some people drink it at room temperature or even ice cold during the summer, but the warm version is more popular.
Apart from being served Rakomelo in a cafe, bar or taverna you can buy this bottled in shops that sell traditional Greek products, especially Cretan ones.
It is also a drink that helps the annoying coughing at night or a sore throat. But bear in mind that this is a very strong drink, do not over do it.

  • Step 1 :Add raki to a small saucepan, bring to a soft boil, add honey and cook for 1-2 minutes stirring to make sure honey has melted.
  • Step 2 :Divide equally into 4 small Greek coffee cups or 2 tea cups.
  • Step 3 :Enjoy!
You can also find raki with honey online. Yolenis sell one of the best in the world.
