Konitsa – Not just an arched bridge

Konitsa is best know for its stone bridge and Aoos river. This bridge is the biggest single span arch bridge in Europe, constructed by master mason Kostas Frontzos.

Few people though follow the path that starts from this location and if you walk all the way, you meet Moni Stomiou, the monastery, that was reconstructed by St. Paisios. in 1958.

Walking in Konitsa, the village itself, is a unique experience. All streets are narrow and stone paved.  The most beautiful area of the village is the Old town with its traditionally built houses, the stone churches and a breathtaking view which you will never forget.

If you are planning to stay in Konitsa book your room in advance, especially during holiday season, because rooms in the area get booked rapidly. Check Booking.com for special offers.
